Baptism You must be a registered parishioner in order to have your child Baptized at Sacred Heart Church. You should call the Parish Office during your third trimester. It may be required that you take a pre-baptismal class. If so, this class must be completed before the date of baptism. The class is held on the second Tuesday evenings of the month at 7pm, in the parish convent building and lasts approximately one hour. After your child is born, please call the Parish Office, 763-537-4561, to make arrangements for the Baptism. Sponsors should be carefully selected for their qualities and capabilities as persons who will faithfully discharge the duties of Godparents. At least one of the Godparents must be a Confirmed, practicing Catholic at least 16 years of age. If the Godparents are not members of Sacred Heart Parish, they must provide letter from their own parish attesting to the fact that they are practicing Catholics. When their strength allows, infants who have been Baptized in an emergency should be brought to the church for the full ceremonies of solemn Baptism. As above, please call the parish office to make arrangements. When Brought for Baptism, infants should be dressed in garments which permit easy and sufficient loosening at the neck and between the shoulders because the ceremony includes anointing of these areas with Holy Oils.
Matrimony Please call the Pastor at least eight months prior to the expected date of marriage. A set of written instructions will be given to each couple planning marriage at Sacred Heart.
